The more I think about it, the more I adore the idea of Zaraki and Unohana knowing each other prior to his joining the Gotei 13. One interesting tidbit this reminded me of--unless the translations I'm looking at are completely wrong, Yachiru refers to Unohana as "Unohana-san" when mentioning her after the Zaraki v. Ichigo fight. No funny pet names or anything. I thought that was very interesting, considering that even Byakuya gets the nickname treatment ("Bya-kun").
